Franklinton Community Mobility Plan Project Management Meeting #11 Minutes

Attendees

Typicals

  • Terry to provide example of exemplary traffic circles in Columbus
  • Add treatment on north part of median on West Park Avenue, near West Broad Street – check with Brian Forschner for his recommendations

Cost Estimates

  • Include design and inspection estimates
  • Include cost for landscaping of traffic circles and median park extensions
  • Increase contingency rate

Truck Traffic (near Scott Street)

  • Possibly designate Glenwood Avenue as primary truck route to businesses
  • Glenwood Avenue needs upgraded to accommodate truck traffic (small curb radii, brick pavers)
  • Possibly get Board of Trade involved, as well as local residents, to resolve issue fairly

Roadway Schematics

  • Remove roundabout on West Broad Street at Washington Boulevard
  • Bike lanes are still in question
  • May be unsafe to provide striping at mid-block crossings (intersections without signals)
  • At tee intersections, curb extensions should be extended to discourage parking illegally
  • Terry to provide plans for Central Avenue/Sullivant Avenue curb radii improvements

October 22 Meeting (Possibly 3:30 PM at 109 N. Front St.)

  • Larry and Terry to give practice run through of presentation for city staff

November 1 Stakeholder Meeting

  • Meeting Notice
    • Do not emphasis “Priority Plan,” rather, “improvements and recommendations”
    • Needs to be sent out two weeks prior (Thursday, October 18)
    • Notice will be emailed. Those without email will be mailed
  • Bernice to check with Library to determine capacity of potential meeting room

November 19 Open House

  • Bernice to send copy to project team of release for Gladden newsletter
  • Start time – 5:00 PM, Presentation – 5:30 PM
  • Location: Gladden Gym
  • A microphone may be needed for the presentation portion
