Franklinton Community Mobility Plan Project Management Meeting #10 Minutes

Interim Report

  • Contacts – Add Captain Chuck Penwell (Fire Department) 795-0930 and 871-0926
  • Speed Data – Columbus to collect for areas where speeding mentioned (Cypress Avenue) and where data seemed high (Dakota Avenue)
  • Figure titles – increase text size
  • 311 figures – highlight traffic related requests
  • Parking and Circulation figure – include legend of notable locations and show relocation of Main Street bridge
  • Safe Routes to School – criteria available online
  • Terry to provide school travel plan for Valleyview

Prioritization Plan

  • Phasing of Projects – based on $250k/year
  • Would like to see something built in year 2008
  • Phasing important to be worked out by November meetings
  • Add 311 mobility requests to public comments

Typicals

  • Use straight curb and include curb ramp locations
  • Show where each typical applies (i.e. – 1-lane to 2-lane curb extension at Town/Princeton)
  • Neighborhood traffic circles – consider increasing curb radii and/or creating radius on straight leg

West Broad Street

  • Typical sections – add 5-lane section with 5-10’ lanes and 2-5’ bike lanes
  • Consider access management and alley system
  • Consider removing portion of existing sidewalk under viaducts for bike lanes
  • Parking more critical at east end (west of tracks)
  • Show one-ways, turn restrictions, bus stop locations, signals
  • Terry contacted Jim Goodenow at Vets Memorial about moving main entrance from Belle Street to Starling Street, but has heard no response yet
  • In final report - recommend testing 4-lane section prior to construction (cone off curb lanes)
  • Send Dilip electronic copy of typicals

Future Events

  • Bernice to email project group suggested dates for city department meeting in October
  • Public Open House to be held on Monday, November 19th
  • Dilip to work on notices and reserve venue (Gladden) for November 19th Public Open House
  • Dilip to request historical traffic calming data from Dan Burden
