Traffic Calming Devices

  • EMH&T to contact Dan Burden for historical data on effectiveness for traffic calming devices
  • Existing speed tables (3” high) in Columbus reduce 85th % speeds, but excessive speeders not slowed
  • Cannot be designed to require vehicles to slow down below the posted speed limit

Interim Report

  • EMH&T to provide Terry with 2 additional copies

Draft Prioritization Plan

  • Sort charts by number of comments, not by alphabetical order
  • Opening workshop chart – x-axis should say “citizen priority”, not “number of comments”
  • Include the location chart sorted by sub-area and include sub-area figure
  • Location chart – Bellows Ave listed twice and last bar has no street name
  • Polish up figure showing top 15 priority areas

Design Criteria

  • Design Vehicle
    • EMH&T to investigate if custom vehicle able to be designed in autoTURN
    • Terry to get turning radii of fire truck
    • Terry to ask fire department if changing routes would be issue
    • Jim Hutcherson may have turning radii of COTA bus
    • Ensure bucket does not hang over sidewalk
  • EMH&T to prepare typical sections with autoTURN templates shown

West Broad Street Improvements

  • At skewed intersections, possibly extend curb extensions to create better pedestrian crossings
  • Veterans Memorial
    • Desirable to move main entrance west, across from Starling Street to reduce pedestrian/vehicle conflict in front of building
    • Desirable to move ticket booth back into parking area to prevent queuing onto West Broad Street
    • Existing main entrance either removed, or adjusted to only provide valet service

Other Items

  • EMH&T to look into truck issues on Scott Street
  • EMH&T to check Dan’s calendar for November open house date
  • EMH&T to send meeting request to project team for Tuesday, October 2, 9:00 AM, to discuss review of interim report and draft prioritization plan
